Johannes Siebert, PhD

Johannes Siebert is a professor of Decision Sciences and Behavioral Economics at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School®, Innsbruck, Austria. He specializes in Behavioral Operations Research and Decision Making, with publications in top journals like Operations Research and European Journal of Operational Research.

He serves on the Executive Committee of the International Society on MCDM, the Coordinating Board of the European Working Group on Behavioral Operations Research, and the Editorial Board of Decision Analysis. He also advises the Alliance for Decision Education alongside researchers such as Daniel Kahneman and Richard Thaler.

His research focuses on improving decision-making for individuals and organizations, developing tools like a six-dimensional scale for proactive decision-making (PDM), which has been shown to improve life satisfaction and can be taught through decision-making courses. He extended classical nudging by empowering individuals as their own decision architects, an idea shared in his TEDxTalk.

Professor Siebert has raised over €700,000 in funding and recently developed decision-making workshops for high school students, improving their skills and confidence in making future decisions. He has consulted on high-impact projects for public and private organizations in Europe and the US, tackling strategic objectives in energy, transportation, pharmaceuticals, and security. He has been a three-time finalist for the Decision Analysis Society Practice Award.
